Why Get Married at Rosecliff Mansion?

The heiress of a silver fortune commissioned Rosecliff to be built in 1899, and it was modeled after the Grand Trianon, a garden chateau of French kings at Versailles. As such, it has the largest ballroom in Newport — the perfect space to accommodate your large guest list. 

Specifically, a Rosecliff wedding can accommodate up to 160 guests for dinner and dancing, with even more seating available in its gorgeous Salon. The venue’s oceanfront locale and manicured landscape give it many jaw-dropped outdoor locations for wedding photos or ceremony spaces, in addition to its luxe interiors. The mansion has many lavish fixtures and finishes both inside and out, including crystal chandeliers and trompe-l’oeil ceilings that bring the illusion of a sunny Newport day indoors. It is, without a doubt, one of the best wedding venues in Rhode Island. 

Portrait Locations at Rosecliff

As a Rhode Island wedding photographer, I know Rosecliff inside and out, and have several idyllic spots for you to take your wedding portraits. 

Inside, everyone’s favorite is — of course — the iconic heart-shaped grand staircase. With velvet red carpet and intricate ironwork, the symmetrical backdrop serves up Gilded Age glamor like no other location on the property. The fireplace in the ballroom is another charming portrait location, especially if you let your florist loose on the mantlepiece. 

Outside, there are too many portrait locations to name, between the perfectly manicured gardens in the front to the expansive terrace off the back of the venue. For a completely different look, I love having my couples pose near the water.

The Preservation Society of Newport County requires that you work with one of four Newport caterers for your Rosecliff Mansion wedding: Blackstone Caterers, Gourmet Galley Catering, Russel Morin Catering & Events, or The Catered Affair. There are no restrictions or recommendations on the wedding photographer who you choose.
